A signing ceremony was held for the Jiangyin Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Center during its grand inauguration at the Jiangyin Municipal People's Government on the morning of May 30. Attendees included Director of the Institute of Microelectronics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Ye Tianchun, Director of the Industrialization Promotion Center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Microelectronics Shang Liwei, Jiangyin Municipal Leaders Wang Jinjian, Cai Yeming, Chen Xinghua, Shao Wensong, Zhao Qiang, and Zhang Shaofeng, and Xinchao Technology Group Chairman Wang Xinchao.

In her speech, Director of the Institute of Microelectronics at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Ye Tianchun spoke of the significance of the Jiangyin Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Center joint initiation by the Jiangyin Municipal People's Government, the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Jiangyin Hi-tech Zone, and the Xinchao Group. Indeed, the project had gone from the initial design to the signing and unveiling in just over two months in spite of restrictions during the major pandemic prevention period, a testament to Jiangyin's great speed, spirit, and efficiency. The domestic integrated circuit industry is now entering a new stage centered on products and breakthrough industry solutions. The Institute of Microelectronics will join forces with Jiangyin and the Xinchao Group to promote technological innovation and industrial development in Jiangyin and create an industry ecosystem centered in Jiangyin that radiates across the Yangtze River Delta to impact the entire country.

Director of the Industrialization Promotion Center at the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Microelectronics Shang Liwei provided the visiting leaders with detailed information about the center. Projects undertaken at the Jiangyin Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Center will be able to leverage the strong technical capabilities of the Academy of Integrated Circuit Innovation and the advantages of Jiangyin in the integrated circuit packaging and testing sector. The Center will welcome cutting-edge integrated circuit technology innovation projects and enterprises from around the world, capturing the high ground in the post-Moore era to build a core base for fundamental and forward-looking research in China and become a world-class center for integrated circuit design innovation. The Jiangyin Integrated Circuit Design Innovation Center will harness the cooperation experience of the Academy of Integrated Circuit Innovation and develop through the Jiangyin Integrated Circuit R&D Center, the Jiangyin Integrated Circuit Design Industrial Park, and the Jiangyin Integrated Circuit Venture Capital Fund. The center will recruit 100 high-end researchers in integrated circuits within five years, apply for no fewer than 100 new patents, software copyrights, and integrated circuit layouts, incubate at least 50 companies, and achieve a total revenue of over RMB 2 billion and total tax revenue of over RMB 100 million for resident enterprises.
